Hair and 12 year old Girls

It’s been quite some time since my oldest daughter has let me do her hair. I’m the type of mom that likes my daughters to wear ‘pretties’ in their hair, with cute little braids, ponytails, clips, barrettes, you name it. My oldest however, seemed to grow out of it too young. Just barely 12, it’s suddenly dawned on her that doing hair is now ‘cool’. It still takes a bit of work, as she feels a lot of things I do pulls when it doesn’t seem to affect her friends when I do theirs during those typical preteen sleepovers. Nonetheless, I can’t begin to explain how ecstatic I am in that she’s letting me do her hair again.

    I think I’m going to ask my mum if she ever felt the same way. I’ve never felt fond of my hair, and when I finally got the courage to, I chopped it all off (I still have the pony tail somewhere!) and a few months later, I shaved off what was left!I never learned to style it or manage it or anything when I was younger, mainly because I wasn’t interested in it. It felt so liberating to just get rid of it all.But when I think about it, all the photographs of me as a child included my hair being ‘pretty’, courtesy of my mum. I wonder if she missed it when it stopped. i know she wasn’t happy when it all dissapeared! lol.modifiedmummy.co.uk/blog

    Love, Love, Love your blog! Every post you’ve written is sooo my life! And, I’m a recovering Type A. LOL! I don’t know how oyu do it with 5 kids. My 3 can completely un-do any organization that I try to implement into this house in 2 mins flat. Oh-btw I’m in NC too. I served 8 yrs. in the Army Nat. Guard and my hubby was in the Army. I worked at Bragg for a little while on a special Active Duty Assignment. And…bravo for breastfeeding! :-)
