Ingredients
4
cups
day old bread
cut into cubes
¼
cup
olive oil
½
teaspoon
salt
½
teaspoon
garlic powder
1
teaspoon
oregano
1
lb
elbow macaroni
½
stick
butter
8
ounces
cream cheese
½
cup
heavy whipping cream
¼
cup
jarred jalapeños
diced
1
pound
bacon
12
ounces
Monterey Jack cheese
shredded
6
ounces
Colby jack cheese
marble, shredded
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Grease your
baking dish
and set it aside.
Prepare a
baking sheet
with
parchment paper
(or a
reusable silicone baking mat
) and add your uncooked bacon.
On a separate
baking sheet
, add bread cubes, toss in
olive oil
. Add
salt
,
garlic powder
, and
oregano
and toss again.
Bake your bread cubes for 15 minutes, or until golden brown and toasty. These are homemade croutons to use for the dish.
Bake the bacon strips until crispy, about 20 minutes.
Chop your
jalapeños
and set aside.
Also coarsely chop the cooled bacon.
Prepare your macaroni al denté as directed on the package.
Drain the macaroni then return it to the
pot
and add your cream cheese and butter.
Mix until butter and cream cheese are melted thoroughly.
Mix in the whipping cream and shredded cheese. Continue to stir until cheese is fully melted.
Fold in chopped jalapeños and coarsely chopped bacon.
Add macaroni mixture to a greased
baking dish
and top with your freshly baked croutons. Top with more cheese.
Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes, until mixture is bubbly, cheese is fully melted.
