My oldest scored her first goal monday. On tuesday, she scored two more.
Thirteen words of pride.
Pride in a daughter who, after many seasons, finally swallowed her fear. Finally put a little foot on the ball, and finally took the plunge. She did what she’d only dreamed of doing, and she went for it. That’s all you can ever do, you know? Is go for it. And she did, boy howdy did she ever.
I am thankful for her courage to go for it. For finally taking the chance, whether it went in or not, she followed through, she stuck with it, she’s worked hard over these years, played many positions, and all that hard work paid off in a big way.
Here she was, scoring her first goal ever, and there I was, thankful for that moment, thankful for the apropos “told you so” we were able to give her with a high five and hugs amidst her teethy pride-induced grins.
I am thankful for her learning a most valuable life lesson – dedication. And for little big moments like these that make up our lives.
