Sadly, yesterdays meal was both delicious for my junior high kids and NOT ENOUGH. That is never something that makes me happy to hear, especially when experimenting such as I am with this school lunch project. Not enough food is a gigantic fail in my book.
Note to self: Next time we make pasta, we’re going bigger for ’em.
This immediately got me all kinds-of anxious for today’s meal – nachos. Normally, these kids fill an entire dinner plate with baked nachos. Heck, my football-playing son even goes up for seconds because he eats like a horse. This did not bode well for his lunch container’s adequacy of size.
As you can see, instead of baked nachos, they received the taco meat that filled the big part of their container with chips on the side. We included a fork, in case they ran out of chips and had to eat the meat alone.
The younger kids are getting seriously boring in choosing grilled cheese and turkey instead of AWESOME like nachos. But hey, I can’t complain, at least they eat it.
While preparing dinner and having the oven on, I prepared breakfast to have at-the-ready in the morning. Muffins. Hellz yeah! The apple cinnamon ones are RIDICULOUSLY good. I snuck one mini. Or four. Ahem.
Lastly, I wanted to share a product I found at Walmart while waiting to check out. They’re called “Sharkies” and they’re organic sports chews for kids after playing and working out hard. Only $1, too!
I hope your day is a good one. I snagged a nap and a good cry this morning, to be honest. It was much needed.
Happy almost weekend!
