Festive Glitter New Year’s Cookies for New Year’s Eve
This year, we’ve upped the ante on our New Year’s Party plans! We’re going with a silver and gold sparkly theme this year! Why not, you know? It seems to be a pretty popular option, but quite frankly, I’m all about the shimmer! We’re getting a gold foil fringe curtain or two, which would make a perfect backdrop on all our pictures! We are ALL about the fun photo booth supplies, too! I was thinking of having a New Year’s Eve bar cart this year for our friends. We plan to help decorate our New Year’s drinks and table with fun black and silver drinking straws, too! See how gorgeously they pair well with these New Year’s Cookies? They are perfect!

Glitter Dusted New Year’s Cookies Recipe
To help round out our table decor with these New Year’s Cookies featured prominently front and center on a party platter, we plan to get this New Year’s disposable dinnerware set, we think it’ll look wonderful with our New Year’s Eve treats on it, don’t you think? I want to also get these disposable flute glasses for our champagne and sparkling grape juice for the kids, not only are these beautiful but they’re unbreakable! I’m also considering taking my friend’s advice and creating these New Year’s Countdown Bags for my little one who sometimes has trouble staying up to see the ball drop.
Celebrate the New Year with Glitter New Year’s Cookies
I’m absolutely obsessed with these chalkboard-esque New Year’s Cookies with glitter dust on them. The edible silver food glitter dust just adds a certain amount of sparkle and shine to your baked goods, you know? Look at how amazing they look sitting there with the gold, silver, and black decor! I love using the white decorating frosting for this, because it completely picks up the glitter when dusted with it and it looks so perfect, doesn’t it?
How to Decorate Glitter New Year’s Cookies
Decorating these New Year’s Cookies isn’t as hard as you may think. You have to go easy when using the edible food glitter, a little tends to go a long way here. That’s why it’s best to use a paintbrush to dust the glitter onto your cookies. We don’t even get fancy paintbrushes, we use Crayola! Why not, you know? But, by using the black fondant and white decorative frosting to write, those two together easily pull out and display that gorgeous silver food luster with ease, and it just looks elegant, doesn’t it? It appears to be harder than it really is, but it isn’t that hard at all to do!
How to Make Glitter New Year’s Cookies
Let’s get decorating, friends! To make these awesome Glittery New Year’s Cookies, you will need the following:
- Sugar cookie dough with enough dough to make 12 cookies, cut out into circles about 2.5 inches in diameter (this is my all time favorite sugar cookie recipe)

You will also need the following tools to make these New Year’s Cookies:
Cut cookies into 2.5 inch circles using a round cookie cutter. Bake cookies according to recipe directions and allow to cool completely on a wire rack.
Roll out your black fondant so that it’s about ¼ of an inch thick. Using the same cookie cutter that you used for your cookies, cut out 12 circles from your black fondant. Press the circle fondant pieces gently onto each cookie.
With your white decorating frosting, frost out the numbers “2019” (or whatever year it will be) onto each cookie.
Carefully sprinkle the entire cookie with food glitter using a paintbrush. Dust even the numbers, too.
