Or should I say, the Commissary Gods. Our Commissary has suddenly decided organic options are cool. I’ve only been begging and pleading FOR.EV.ER. but it’s become a reality! WHOOPIE!!!! Here… look.. you must see my treasures that I found today!!! Look at this motherload, eh? he he
Included above are Organic Rolled Oats, Organic Flax Seed, Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix (which normally I make from scratch with organic ingredients.. so nice to have a mix!), Cinnamon Bread Mix (again, so nice to have a mix!), Newman-O’s (oreos), Hot Cereal, Soy Flour, and two deodorants, Alba (WOOHOO ALBA!!!) and Nature’s Gate for my soon-to-be 8 year old, who’s starting to have BO, if you can believe it 🙁
So yeah, here we were, just left our little picnic, enjoying the 81 degree weather despite mommy feeling yucky, and we’d eaten the last of the turkey for school lunches this week, so we had to stop on the way home. Who knew my commissary trip would be so rewarding? 🙂 And after that shopping excursion, even with all of my five children, which I’m sure you can imagine between the running ahead or not sticking by me, the fighting over things they can’t have or over the silliest things like how to spell things right in front of them, my youngest trying to climb out of the rocketship cart because she isn’t aware that falling on her head isn’t “cool”, my 3 year old running off to look at the character on the side of some preservative/additive-filled sugary treat set up to attract them into asking over and over and over to have, not only did I leave the store happy, I left beyond ecstatic!
Yay for Organic baking being that much easier!! Off I go!
Yay! i’m so excited for you! It is hard when your local stores don’t carry organic or at least at a reasonable price! Our HArris Teeter is about the only place here, otherwise we have to trek to Raleigh to Whole Foods and Trader Joes. But, I love to go to WF and TJ’s, I just wish I had someone who wanted to go with me. Believe it or not our Target carries 7th Generation cleaning supplies and Tom’s of Maine products and all cheaper than HT or WF.
Thats great! Don’t you love it when that happens. It’s like a little present, just for you!>>Hope you get better soon!
Wow – that’s great news! I try to eat as much organic as possible, so this would have made my day as well!>>Thanks for visiting my blog the other day. I am glad to have found you!
Thanks Elizabeth! I’m stoked too!>>Thanks Kelly Jene, it indeed was a present for me! 🙂>>Thanks Mommy,I’m glad to have found you too! I’m adding you as one of my fave blogs to read, I looooove your blog!
I’ve thought about going organic. It just seems so expensive!
Chris – I had thought the same thing at first, but there are tons of companies out there that are realizing its value. I have a sneaking suspicion that pretty soon, those pesticides, additives, preservatives and food dyes will be a thing of the past, and all will be organic some day, or some version of it. In the meantime, I’m happily enjoying my organic finds at the stores lately, like Ragu, Honey Bunches of Oats, etc. Main brands! woohoo!
