I’m a member of the website http://stoptherod.net/ where a bunch of moms and dads are trying to prevent the sale and promotion of beating implements, products and practices against children. Today’s email from Susan Lawrence, Stop the Rod’s creator, is about a new book Amazon.com has for sale called “Heaven at Home” in which Ginger Plowman, the author, feels she should attempt to fatten her wallet by writing a book about child abuse. She cites on p.9 where she credits baby-whipping author Tedd Tripp for “dealing with this hard-headed author” by making her re-write the book 3 times according to his baby-whipping advice. She talks about training children, how she wasn’t always insane, her life was great until the stick ‘turned blue (page 42). All in all, I’m not impressed with this author in the least, and wrote a scathing review of her book on Amazon. I invite you to do the same if you feel as inclined as I do to stop people like this from promoting violence against children. http://www.stoptherod.net/plowman2.html and hey, if you find my review helpful, entitled “Beat your children for peace at home! I think not….”, help bump it up for other parents to see. I’d hate for people to be duped into buying a book such as this in thinking its a cure all when its absolutely not.
And hey, while you’re on that site, why not sign up for newsletters like I have? You’d be appalled at what people are trying to sell to parents as answers to parenting issues, and ONLY in the US!!!! Rods, aka beating sticks, paddles, etc.
Wow, definitely something I will have to look into. Thanks for the heads up!
