My “Tackle It Tuesday” is a little bit different than normal. Today I’m beginning Christmas and playing Santa.
Yes, you read that right.
I do know today is only September 16th. But if you were to count, today is officially 100 days ’til Christmas. The countdown is officially on. Scary, huh?
You’re thinking ‘Christmas? Already? Lisa, you’ve lost your marbles!’ Oh, I know I probably did, but not about starting Christmas early, I can assure you.
I’m sure you’ve already noticed stores putting up Christmas decor, and it isn’t even Halloween yet. Your children might have even just started back to school, started fall sports, boy or girl scouts, etc. This might not even be on your mind right now… but it should be.
There are some fantastic sales that will happen now until then. Why wait until the last minute? Why rush around with everyone else? Planning ahead not only allows for a smooth, calm holiday, but puts some money back into your pockets by searching for the best deal early enough to cash in on it.
See something on sale while running errands that would make a good gift? Snatch it up! Put it away somewhere hidden, and mark it off the list. For those who need to budget Christmas down to the penny, every penny saved will help that much more.
So today my Tackle it Tuesday is – starting the lists. Have my children mentioned something they’d really like? It’s going on the list, today. When we go shopping, is there something they can’t keep their eyes off of (sneaky thing I am, I watch for that)? I’m putting it on the list, today. Plus I’m going to start shopping online, filling a super secret list that only I can see, adding to that list as well, to keep in mind if it goes on sale.
That’s a lot of lists, though, especially with my big family. Every year I’ve always had this secret list in my wallet/planner that I’m always afraid will get discovered if someone needed to get into my planner for whatever reason. This year, I’m armed WAY better, and stealth-like, he he. I have Wishpot. I’ve already had hubby filling his out for months now, because his passion – magic – is never something I could just magically come up with a gift for (nice pun, huh?). I don’t know what tricks/books he might want. So when I discovered Wishpot, I had him sign up, and he’s been happily filling out his list since.
Never heard of Wishpot? It’s an free online registry program you can use for ANY website, ANY item, ANY place. No more multiple lists to give to friends and family – one for this store, one for that store, oh no! Wishpot is one master list you can use for anywhere! You can add the ‘Add to Wishpot’ button to your browser, peruse websites for the best price, then click “Add to Wishpot” and presto, it’s there! I’ve added things of all kinds, from things I want for the kids, to things I recommend for other moms, and more. Check it out! And if you need help, I can help you! I’m a Mom Expert there, and I can help walk you through how to set up your’s or your children’s registry. Their newest addition (if you haven’t heard) is the baby registry. Can they make it any easier for new moms?
Okay, so your mission today on Tackle it Tuesday is…. start those lists! Get out your santa hat (or virtual hat if your Christmas stuff is buried in storage, as is mine) and go, go, go! Get those ideas for gifts flowing! Start your own Wishpot list to give to others, or start it for your own children’s wishes. Get a plan going! It’s never too early!
