To help promote and celebrate the recent opening of “The American Idol Experience”, tonight whomever is announced the newest “American Idol” of the star-studded finale (Adam Lambert or Kris Allen), the winner will shout the ever-popular words “I’m going to Disney World!” upon the announcement their win, and hours later it’ll be shown in a new Disney commercial.
*Edit* Video is below of Kris Allen singing in the new commercial*
As if winning “American Idol” wasn’t a dream come true enough!
The winner will also sing the iconic song “When You Wish Upon A Star” also to be part of the commercial. I love the feelings that song invokes in me, and whomever wins, I can’t wait to hear it (and then I’ll long for Disney World again.. *sigh*)!
Me (middle left) and the Magical Moms rockin’ out watching the show
At “The American Idol Experience”, you really get to experience the glitz and glamour that is the “American Idol” television show, whether you’re auditioning for a Disney producer, performing on-stage in front of a packed theater (oh my word!) or voting for your favorite performer from the audience seats (like I did). We went behind the scenes visiting the “green room” and different casting rooms, as shown to us by the Disney cast member walking us through the process.
The “show” in and of itself was awe-inspiring, you really felt like you’re part of it. Camera-men were running up and down the aisles, filming you for the screens above (say “Hi mom!”), while the host was downright funny and definitely a personality (Ryan Seacrest, run for yer money, pal!). The judges were even cast splendidly similar to the show (the Randy Jackson look-a-like was AMAZING!), and any American Idol fan would sit there in amazement and tingle all over at the excitement of watching 3 contestants compete for a “Dream” ticket!
What we experienced at Disney was considered a “preliminary show” (though there was nothing “preliminary” to me!) The performers who compete and receive the most audience votes in those preliminary shows get to return later that night to star in that evening’s “grand finale” show. And should you win the “grand finale” show? You get “The American Idol Experience” Dream Ticket, which allows you to schedule a front-of-the-line audition at a future regional audition for the “American Idol” television show.
So in essence, win at Disney World, and get your shot in front of the judges for real*!!
They film it just like the show, too. With a ‘history’ look of each contestant telling their story, then their performance after a brief interview, with the judges critique after they’re done, followed by a recap after all of the performers finish, as well as the audience vote. So. Much. Fun! (well, maybe not the judges critique. That Simon dude can be pretty harsh!)
Did you know, “The American Idol Experience” is the first major theme park attraction in the world based on a television series?? I didn’t (well, until I was told, lol)! (It was developed by Walt Disney Imagineering in conjunction with FremantleMedia Enterprises and 19 TV Ltd.)
And while I’m spouting off trivia, did you know that this role in these Disney World commercials is usually occupied by sports stars, like our Super Bowl heroes The Pittsburgh Steelers (holla!) and World Series champs. Tonight, either Adam Lambert or Kris Allen will be the second singer to ever star in the Disney commercial in its 20+-year history, with 2008 “American Idol” champion, David Cook, being the first. Cool, huh?
Hey, how fitting is it that the winner of American Idol will visit Disney World and help celebrate their win when Disney this year is asking their guests “What Will You Celebrate?” I guess that answers that question for whomever wins, huh? 🙂
I tell ya, if you’re planning on a trip to Disney World soon, be sure to check out the “The American Idol Experience”. It’s WAY cool, fun for everyone, and will only add to the supreme magic you’ll already experience there.
