September 27th, the day of his actual birthday, we began with breakfast in the hotel in Asheville, NC, just before we packed to go home from the Type-A Mom Conference.
We made way to the airport after that, but were stuck, delayed for hours. I received a text from my husband, “Omg it’s the frankenstein of birthday cakes…epic fail.”
(I don’t think so. I think it’s adorable. A Mickey Mouse Clubhouse carrot cake with cream-cheese icing, all naturally made, dyed with fruits and spices.)
Finally, we can sing and celebrate (a whole day later)! Happy Birthday, Baby Dude! Here’s your Frankenstein birthday cake!
Pouty lip instead of blowing it out. It’s the only face he could manage to make, so hubs helped him blow out his candles.
A little droopy after sitting, waiting to be sung to for a birthday boy for an entire day, but still delicious.
Gifts! Yay! It’s Mickey Mouse!
It’s a guitar! I want to play with it!!
What a view. Unfortunately, missing from this picture was a very tired three-year-old who couldn’t hang for the party.
Dude? Where’d you take my guitar?
He points like he’s calling my husband out for taking his guitar away to open it. Ha! “I’m comin’ for ya, dad!”
Yay! It’s back! And open! And I’m playing with it! Weee!!
OhMyGosh! Biggest Mickey Mouse bag ever! What’s in it!? (Do you see the size of his grin?)
He stares at Mickey on his bag. He’d probably be happy with just the bag itself.
Wait, what? There’s something inside?
A Mickey Mouse train!?!
And, it seems, someone couldn’t wait to eat the cake. BUSTED!
Regardless of being celebrated a whole day later than expected, and arriving well after midnight after being in the airport for 13+ hours of his birthday, it’s so wonderful to be home again, hugging a newly two-year-old and celebrating with my family.
TWO! {Sniffle}

Hi, I’m Lisa! Welcome to my perfectly imperfect corner of the web where I've chronicled my life as a mom to "eleventy-billion" kids since 2007! Here I share posts with our family-friendly recipes, crafts and creating art, traveling as a big family, reliving my youth endlessly dancing to 90's music, and documenting our adventurous life while sipping coffee and basking in the delicious Colorado sunshine.
