Recently, my daughter had an ear infection. There was no forewarning at all, she didn’t appear ill, just all of a sudden, she had a fever and felt awful. That coupled with a lack of sinus drainage, I decided to take her to a CareNow urgent care center nearby and not wait for an appointment through our regular clinic. CareNow was fast, easy, and oh so convenient. Plus, the staff was wonderfully compassionate! We walked right in, no appointment necessary!
As winter approaches, school germs are ready to strike. There’s no grace period, they hit hard and fast. Colds, flu, and the like run rampant around school because of poor handwashing, openly sneezing, and dirty surfaces. Your kids might be fine one minute, and sick the next. When the unexpected strikes, consider CareNow urgent care facilities and keep these three safety precautions in mind to help prevent getting sick or get on the mend fast!
Wash Your Hands
The importance of regular handwashing throughout the day cannot be overstated. Wash your hands like it’s your job, friends. And encourage your kids to do the same.
Handwashing has been clearly shown to prevent a variety of diseases and is one of the most important ways to protect oneself and others from infections. Regular handwashing, particularly before and after certain activities, is one of the best ways to remove germs, avoid getting sick, and prevent the spread of germs to others.” – CDC
Drink Plenty of Water
Drinking enough water for your body isn’t a simple task, because “enough” is different for everybody. To calculate how much water you should be drinking daily, divide your weight (in pounds) by 2.2. Then, multiply that number by your age (in years). Divide that sum by 28.3, and your total is now how many ounces of water you should drink every day tailored to your age and weight specifically. Ta da! Now get drinking and help stay hydrated!
Vitamin C, Baby
Our family regularly eats oranges, cuties, and mandarin oranges like it’s our job. Consuming Vitamin C this way is great for us and helps ward off the ickies! You can take supplements if you’d like to instead, just be sure to make it a habit to help keep you healthy during cold and flu season!
