Momma is no longer sucking at this! Woohoo!
Over the past couple months, together with my husband (who wanted to shed a few pounds, too), we took family walks, we ran, played at the park, did sit-ups, push-ups, dips, and overall stayed pretty active (on top of the normal, everyday parents-to-seven-freaking-kids kind of activity). As a result, we’ve lost A LOT of weight together. I think my husband has lost 15 lbs, now? And today, after weighing in on the first, I’ve lost 11 lbs.
Wow.
I will admit, I attribute some of it to being the mother of a needy infant who makes me so busy sometimes I can’t eat a full friggin meal. Because of her clinginess from teething right now, sometimes I can only grab a granola bar or yogurt to snack on to eat instead of a real meal. But even when I do eat a “full” meal, it isn’t a big meal, and I eat so many small meals throughout the day. Sometimes I can only grab a few teaspoons of peanut butter with a banana, or a Clif bar, or some oatmeal, and a Greek yogurt. I really need to do my best to pre-prepare things for me because I’m kind-of getting bored with the same ‘ol grabby-easy things daily, but many small meals helps rev my metabolism up so high that it burns off quickly.
And walking. Oh, friends, I love the family walks. I love it even more that V seems to let me run every now and again (even though the jogger stroller hasn’t gotten much easier to push. Oy.). The weather is fan-freaking-tastic right now, and with all the walking we’ve done, I’m working on a pretty nice tan, if I do say so myself. Heh.
Here’s the updated pictures (ignore the baby spit-up stains on my pink pants, ahem). I wholly recommend taking update pictures of yourself so you can see the changes your body is making.
Do you see that shrinking waist and thighs?! Woohoo!!
The measurements have told the tale as well. I am also seeing that the large tops I bought for this “after the baby” time are a liiiittle too flowy in the chest section. I tend to hold my shirt when having to bend over. Heh, whoops.
In addition to tracking my calories in MyFitnessPal and my movement with my Fitbit, do you see those bright pink pants up there slightly covered in baby spit-up? They are AWESOME compression pants called Zaggora Viva Hotpants. I was sent them to try ’em out, and I love wearing compression pants while exercising at home. They help you sweat your tushy off. I wish they made a whole-body compression garment. I sweat A LOT wearing ’em, and literally have to peel those suckers off, but they ROCK. Heh.
By the way, I want to share this with you: my good friend Kim just ran her first tri (SO PROUD OF HER! Want to go over and congratulate her?) Also, the Shrinking Jeans gals are focusing their workouts on upper body this month – want to join them? As always, you can find some spectacular fitness motivation by following my fellow Fitfluential Ambassadors on Twitter and Instragram using hashtag #fitfluential.
What are YOU up to right now, fitness-wise?
