Cute Tie-Dye Poop Emoji Cupcakes
We are dialing up the cute factor on these emoji cupcakes, friends! Despite what it represents (which is typically considered “yucky”), the kids think the poop emoji is the funniest and of COURSE it’s their favorite, I couldn’t avoid making these for them! Plus, the tie-dye frosting is pretty amazeballs on this. If you’ve never tie-dyed frosting before, buckle up! It’s a freaking blast!
Simple Tie-Dye Poop Emoji Cupcakes
We chose to use teal, pink, and yellow gel food coloring to make these simple Tie-Dye Poop Emoji Cupcakes, but you can easily pick three colors of your own! It doesn’t matter what three colors you choose, pick your favorites! Pick the favorite colors of the person you’re making them for, right? Personally, I wanted to give them an adorable revamp with some spring/summer colors, it makes me happy to look at ’em! No two cupcakes will be the same because of how you load the piping bag with each of the dyed frostings! It is just so cool to see for yourself!
Adorable Tie-Dye Poop Emoji Cupcakes
Make these awesome Tie-Dye Poop Emoji Cupcakes for someone’s birthday, or to serve at a summer party (just be sure to keep them out of the direct sun so the frosting doesn’t melt off)! Perhaps make ’em for a fun summer sleepover, or for a class party? Maybe a family get together? These emoji cupcakes are just so silly and adorable, they are simply perfect for any and every occasion!
Easy Tie-Dye Poop Emoji Cupcakes
We used white and black fondant to hand make the eyeballs in the appropriate sizes. You could choose to buy candy googly eyes to use on your cupcakes instead, but I felt they weren’t the right shape for the poop emoji’s eyes (the already made ones are perfectly round). By making them with fondant yourself, you get to make them the right size, and the kids get involved, too! They love rolling them out, and making these shapes come to life, you know?
How to Make Tie-Dye Poop Emoji Cupcakes
To make these awesome Tie-Dye Poop Emoji Cupcakes for your kiddos, you will need the following ingredients:
- Vanilla cupcakes, baked and cooled to the touch (use your favorite vanilla cupcakes recipe to make and bake your cupcakes, but if you want to use a box, this one’s our favorite boxed vanilla cake mix – it comes out great every time!)
- Softened sticks of unsalted butter
- Confectioners’ sugar
- Milk
- Teal gel food coloring
- Pink gel food coloring
- Yellow gel food coloring
- White fondant
- Black fondant
You will also need the following kitchen tools:
As you let your cupcakes cool on a cooling rack, begin by shaping your fondant shapes to make the emoji eyes! With your white fondant, roll out 24 spheres, about 1/3 of an inch in size. Flatten each sphere into a small oval.
Take small pieces of the black fondant and form even smaller ovals – these will act as the cupcake’s “pupils.” Press each black fondant pupil onto one white oval to make the eyes.
Roll out the remainder of the white fondant until it’s about ¼ of an inch thick. Use the bottom of a large Wilton icing tip to cut out 6 circles. (It doesn’t matter what sort of large Wilton icing tip you use, but the large size makes a perfect sized mouth for these!)
Use a paring knife to cut the circles in half – these will act as the cupcakes’ smile. You can shape them here to make the smiles look similar to the emoji.
In a large bowl and using an electric mixer, beat together butter, sugar and milk. Start the speed of the electric mixer on slow and gradually increase the speed to high. Once all the ingredients are well-combined and form semi-stiff peaks, the homemade buttercream is ready.
Divide the buttercream into 3 smaller bowls. Tint each bowl of buttercream with its respective color: teal, pink and yellow, adding however many drops you need while mixing well until the desired color is achieved.
Scoop the buttercream, one spoonful at a time and alternating colors, into a piping bag (with Wilton tip #12 attached) – this will help give it its “tie dye” look.
Frost each cupcake generously, into a “poop emoji” shape.
Assemble each cupcake with fondant eyes and smile.
Repeat for each cupcake, serve, and enjoy these adorable and easy cupcakes for kids!
