Aliens Toy Story Crispy Rice Treats Recipe
For this recipe, I chose to create the green fondant with Kelly green gel food coloring and a White fondant. I could’ve opted for a ready-made green colored fondant, but the Kelly green food coloring matches the aliens’ tone the best, you know? Not to mention, the kids love kneading the coloring into the fondant to mix and get that color going!
Tips to Make Toy Story Rice Krispies Treats
- If you’re making these with your kiddos, you’re going to need to help them when “cutting” the shapes with the cookie cutter. I let them press down the cookie cutter into the prepared treats and then I might use a sharp knife alongside the cookie cutter to help ensure the shape is fully cut before lifting.
- While the water and food-safe paint brush are necessary to “stick” the elements together, handle them with care as they can tend to get “goopy” when sticking them together.
- Before biting into the treat, ensure the kids have removed the alien’s antenna first!
How to Make Toy Story Rice Krispies Treats
To make these fun Toy Story 4 Alien Rice Krispies Treats, you will need the following ingredients:
You will also need the following tools at the ready:
- Football shaped cookie cutter, about 3in x 2in in size
- Bowl of water + paint brush
- Toothpicks
- Saucepan
- Baking sheet
- Wax paper or silicone baking mat
- Wooden spoon
- Wilton decorating mat
Toy Story Rice Krispies Treats Instructions
Line a baking sheet with wax paper or use a silicone baking mat and set it aside. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add your marshmallows to the pan.
Stir until the mini marshmallows are melted. Add green food coloring and stir until marshmallow mixture is completely tinted thoroughly. Remove from heat and add Rice Krispies cereal. Fold in the rice cereal with a wooden spoon until all ingredients are well-coated and well-combined.
Pour rice cereal mixture onto lined baking sheet. Press down with fingers (it’ll be less sticky if you wet your fingers!) and flatten it out so that it’s a rectangle, about 7 in x 5 in in size.
Using your shaped cookie cutter, cut out 6-8 football shapes. With anything left, go ahead and re-mold it, flatten it out, and cut more shapes again. Alternatively, you can use the cookie cutter as a mold and press rice cereal treats into the cutter itself. Your choice on what works for you! 🙂
Insert a toothpick at the top center of each football-shaped treat, with about ½ an inch of it exposed.
Take about two ounces of your white fondant and set aside. Color the rest of the fondant with the kelly green food coloring and knead until completely tinted. Roll out your green fondant so that it’s about ¼ of an inch thick. Using the same cookie cutter, cut out 6-8 fondant football shapes (or as many shapes as you made of the treats), pressing one onto each cereal treat.
To assemble one alien: start with the ears. Roll two ½ inch spheres out of your green fondant. Flatten them out and point one end on each. Brush water lightly on the back and place gently on either side of your alien’s head. (With the fondant being wet, it can become sticky or more malleable – handle with care.)
Take a small piece of green fondant and flatten it out to wrap around the exposed toothpick on the top of the alien’s head. Roll a small sphere to place on the top of the toothpick at the end.
Roll out 3 small white fondant circles, about ¼ of an inch in size each. Brush water on the back of each one to assemble on alien’s face. Roll out 3 small black fondant circles and brush water on the back to put on the center of the white circles.
Take a small piece of black fondant and form a line to create the alien’s smile.
Add the small spheres to the top of the toothpick to finish, and repeat for all of your alien Rice Krispies treats. Serve and enjoy!
