How to Make Mermaid Rice Krispies Treats
To make these gorgeous Mermaid Rice Krispies Treats, you will need the following ingredients:
- Rice Krispies Treats, cut into rectangles (or you can make them from scratch)
- Purple fondant
- White fondant
- Edible silver food glitter
- Blue candy melts
- Coconut oil
- Brown sugar
You will also need the following tools to make this recipe a success:
- Shell fondant mold
- Bowl of water with a food safe paint brush
- Baking sheet
- Wax paper
- Paring knife
Line a baking sheet with wax paper for decorating and set aside.
If you decided to make your own Rice Krispies Treats, please make sure your treats are cooled fully before decorating. Have them sliced into rectangles and ready to go.
Use your sea shell fondant mold to create twelve purple fondant sea shells. To use the mold, press a small amount of the purple fondant down into the desired shape. (With these molds, you have plenty of shapes to choose from!)
Press hard, smooshing down the fondant into the shape, then remove it from the mold carefully peeling it back.
Depending on how much fondant you used, the shape might need to be trimmed using a good quality sharpened paring knife.
Roll your white fondant into twelve small spheres, about ¼ of an inch in size.
Pour some edible silver glitter onto your wax paper and dip your paint brush into the bowl of water.
Dip your paint brush into your glitter and paint each of your white fondant spheres.
Microwave your blue candy melts and coconut oil in thirty second intervals until completely melted.
Dip the bottom of each Rice Krispies Treat into your bowl of melted candy.
You’ll want about a third to a half of the rice cereal treat to be coated.
Place a fondant sea shell and a fondant pearl on each Rice Krispies Treat on top of the melted candy while it’s still wet.
Sprinkle brown sugar at the bottom of each Rice Krispies Treat to represent the “sand.”
Allow the treats to set fully before serving.
Aren’t they just perfect?
